Introducing Seamless AI Conversations in Slack
We believe AI should feel like a natural extension of your team, not a command-line utility you have to "operate." That's why we're excited to roll out our latest update to Genie for Slack: Seamless Chat.
Farewell, Slash Commands (If You Want)#
Previously, interacting with Genie often meant memorizing commands like /genie ask or /genie code. While powerful, it broke the flow of conversation.
Now, you can just talk.
Simply mention @Genie in any channel or thread, and ask your question naturally.
You: "@Genie why is this API endpoint returning 401?"
Genie: "It looks like the
Authorizationheader is missing from your request. Here's how to add it..."
Context is King#
Real collaboration happens in threads, back-and-forth. Genie now has Thread-Level Memory.
When you reply to Genie, it remembers what was just said. No need to copy-paste previous context or restate your problem.
Example Flow:
- You: "@Genie debug this function."
- Genie: Provides a fix.
- You: "Can you make it more efficient?"
- Genie: Refactors the code for performance, knowing exactly which function you're talking about.
Intelligent Streaming#
Waiting for an AI to write a long code block can be tedious. We've implemented Real-Time Streaming for Slack.
Genie's responses now appear token-by-token, just like ChatGPT or your favorite IDE assistant. You start reading the solution immediately, reducing perceived latency to near zero.
Developer First#
Under the hood, Genie automatically detects when you're asking about code. It switches to our specialized coding model to ensure:
- Accurate syntax
- Security best practices
- Clean, idiomatic code generation
Whether you need a quick regex fix or a full component refactor, Genie is ready to pair program right where you work.
Try it Today#
This update is live for all workspaces. Just mention @Genie to say hi!
